Markesha began her career teaching kindergarten and first grade. She later served in reading intervention, literacy specialist, and elementary instructional coaching roles. That experience shapes how she works with teachers: practical, respectful, and grounded in everyday classroom realities.
Today, she leads Tisby Educational Consulting while contributing to literacy conversations across Texas and beyond. She is President of the Texas Council of Teachers of English Language Arts, and her expertise has been recognized in national and state news coverage.
Markesha also serves as an adjunct professor at Texas Christian University, bringing her passion for literacy and educator development into higher education.
